Word Search Puzzles

Word search puzzles are fun and engaging brain teasers.  They are perfect for enhancing your vocabulary and cognitive skills.  A word search puzzle is a word game that consists of letters in a grid pattern.  This pattern can be anything really, but will most often appear as in rectangular, triangle, or square shapes.  Words from a list are then hidden inside this grid, to which the player must then find the words and circle them. Wikipedia states that the first word search puzzle was invented by Norman E. Gibat and published in the Selenby Digest on March 1, 1968. It was also believed that the original puzzle was about 8.5 by 5.5 inches.

Since its creation, the word search puzzle has acquired many variations. More challenging word search puzzles can contain secret messages. These messages are created by utilizing letters not used in the puzzle and thus are left over.  Another variation is where the word search puzzles contain trivia questions.
